Designed for easy loading of software to SCSI hard drives, Grestone Peripherals Inc. offers the D-106 SCSI DataFast as an affordable solution for multiple SCSI hard drive duplication. The fact that SCSI is a widely used interface bus with both IBM-compatible and Apple Macintosh computers makes this the ideal unit for software duplication by all SCSI users. It is compatible with both IBM PC's and Apple SCSI drives and will load an operating system and application software.

For small volume applications, the SCSI DataFast operates as a stand-alone unit with five drive ports. Each port supports one drive and data transfers are simultaneously copied from a single master SCSI drive to four target SCSI drives. During the copying process, the hardware performs bit-by-bit data verification.

The SCSI DataFast supports the ANSI SCSI-3 standard, which provides sustained SCSI data transfer rates of over 300 megabytes per minute. The unit also supports fast and wide (16/32 bit) SCSI operation. For SCSI transceivers, a five-port single-ended configuration is standard; individual ports may be changed to differential configuration via an optional add-on module.

Firmware that configures the DataFast's operating parameters can be easily updated without opening the unit's enclosure. Free software upgrades are available through this website.
