Q: I want to duplicate NTFS or Windows 2000, can
I do it?
A: Yes. The NTFS partitions on the target disk drives
will be the same size as the partition on the source drive. The
remaining space on the target drive is available for allocation
using FDISK or Disk Administrator. Target drives must be the same
size, or larger than the source drive. If the target drives are the
same model and same physical geometry as the source drive, then it
is recommended that the 'Mirror Copy' mode be used for the
duplication.
Q: I want to duplicate NTFS to
targets that are larger in size than the master drive and expand the
partition size. Can I do this?
A: This can only be accomplished with the optional
"NTFS Smart Option". That software will allow copies to larger
drives, expands the NTFS partitions proportionally, and copies
only the data in the NTFS partition. Contact Greystone Sales to
purchase this option.
Q. Can I copy UNIX?
A. Yes. UNIX
can be copied using the mirror copy duplication method. The mirror
copy duplication method requires the source and target drives be the
same size, make and model.
Q. Can I copy OS2?
A. Yes. OS2 can be copied using the mirror copy
duplication method. The mirror copy duplication method requires the
source and target drives be the same size, make and model.
Q. Can I copy Mac
OS?
A. Yes. Mac
OS can be copied using the mirror copy duplication method. The
mirror copy duplication method requires the source and target drives
be the same size, make and model.
Q. Can I copy drives larger than 8 Gigabytes?
A. Yes.
Q. Can I copy from
a larger drive to a smaller drive?
A. Yes. The data from the larger
drive must fit on the smaller drive.
Q. Can I copy FAT16 to a drive larger than 2
Gigabytes?
A.
Yes. The D102A will automatically partition the target drive into 2
Gigabyte partitions.
Q. Can the D102A copy 2.5", 3.5" and 5.25" disk drives?
A. Yes.
Q. What happens if
there is a bad sector on the target drive?
A. The D102A will disable the target
drive and proceed with the copy in process. At the completion of the
copy process the drive is marked as a bad drive.
Q. What happens if
there is a bad sector on the source drive?
A. The D102A will stop the copy
process and display an error message indicating the source drive has
a bad sector. It is a good idea to run a disk utility such as
Scandisk on the source drive prior to the duplication process.
Q. How do I know if
I got a good copy?
A. Use the verification option to ensure the target drives
contain a good copy of the source drive.
Q. Can I duplicate drives with virus
software installed?
A. In most cases - Yes. However, removing the virus software
prior to duplication is recommended if problems should arise.
Q. What do I do if
the D102A does not recognize my hard drive?
A. The drive may be set to be a
slave drive. The drive must be set to be a master drive, or must
have the cable select option set to be recognized by the D102A.
Q. When should I
connect the source and target drives?
A. The source and target drives
should only be connected and disconnected when the D102A is
displaying the Greystone Standard Jobs screen or the User Jobs
Screen. |
